Interesting Fact(s): In February, 1864, Kilpatrick convinced Lincoln, that he could lead a raid into Richmond, to free the Union prisoners being held there - and to strike fear in the residents of Richmond. This turned into a failure, as the separated cavalry wings were not able to coordinate their attacks. Kilpatrick would be appointed minister to Chile, by President Johnson.
