Interesting Fact(s): During the revolutions, that swept Europe, during the 1840's, Osterhaus immigrated to the United States. He settled in a German community in Illinois, Belleville, near St Louis, Missouri. He would enter the Civil War, while living in Missouri, and would command the 12th Missouri Infantry. Osterhaus was a brave soldier and would provide great leadership at the Battle of Pea Ridge. After the war, Osterhaus lived in France, and St. Louis.
