US Major General Henry W. Slocum
led the XII Corps at Gettysburg. His Corps would be on Major General
O.O. Howard's XI Corp's right, completing the "fish hook" configuration.
Slocum's defense of Culp's Hill, is often overlooked - however, a
breakthrough in his sector would have proved disastrous to the Federal army.
Slocum proved up to the task at Gettysburg.
